Hello awesome readers!
I can’t believe it’s already February 14th! Happy Valentine’s Day!
I feel like I owe everyone a huge apology. 2026 started out pretty awful. First, I got walloped with a serious case of the “Christmas Let Down Blues”. You know what I’m talking about? That miserable feeling when all the decorations get packed away and the magic just… poof… disappears. Then I caught this horrible virus that hung around like the world’s worst houseguest. It dug in deep and absolutely refused to leave. But round two of medicine, plus a few amazing sunny days mixed with tons of rest, finally kicked it out. I actually sat down and got some editing done. Yes!
Zen has been my constant companion through this whole illness. While I’ve felt too icky to edit much, he’s been the ultimate snuggle buddy, keeping me company during my couch days. His new favorite thing? The electric blanket! He now has this adorable little yowl specifically requesting it be turned on. Who knew cats could be so demanding about their heating preferences? (That question is a bit of a “Haha!” because we all know how demanding cats are. )
2026 is a weird in-between kind of year for me, and I’m not quite sure where I’ll end up.
But here’s the plan: I want to finish editing the three-book series and the bonus holiday book I wrote last year. If I can get those out into the world this summer and autumn, I’ll call the whole year a victory. I can’t wait to introduce you to Maggie!
And if I’m really lucky, and the writing fairy decides to show up I’ll finish my first full draft of the next adventure for Edward. It’s all about what’s happening in his life, right in the heart of Norland. Without giving too much away, let’s just say Edward discovers something hidden that changes EVERYTHING.
So send me all the wonderful vibes you can!
Quick Question for YOU: What books are keeping you company this winter? Reply and let me know what stories are warming your heart during these chilly February days! And tell me your favorite hot drink to sip on while you’re reading. I’m looking for something new to try.
Happy reading, Arden (and Zen, who is currently demanding his electric blanket be turned on)

Soso demand the heating pad be turned on so she can lay on it when I get up.
I’ve been listening to audiobooks while I stitch. Still working my way through the Alex Cross series.
I’ve been in a hot chocolate mode this winter.
Did you know you can also do a warm protein coffee?
Arden Wren-Shade
Awe! She’s so tiny, she probably needs the extra heat. Love the Alex Cross series. Have you checked out the shows on Prime? I haven’t yet. (How do you make your warm protein coffee?)
