🎉 It’s Release Day! The Bayfield Echo is Here!
My human finished another book. I helped by sitting on the keyboard at critical moments.
Something strange is happening in Bayfield! That means it’s a very good day for readers. (And for cats who enjoy a good mystery from the comfort of a warm lap.)
The Bayfield Echo, the third book in Maggie Mooney’s Magical Mysteries, releases TODAY, August 24, 2026. My human, Arden Wren-Shade, could not be more excited. I am moderately excited. I have expressed this by knocking her pen under the desk twice this morning.
The Voices Are Back. And They Shouldn’t Be.
People near the harbor are hearing things. Familiar voices. Past sounds bleeding into the present, and the reports keep coming in.
Maggie Mooney thinks she knows why. During the ritual to free the Northern Star, something cracked. The kids saw it happen. They thought it was fine.
They were wrong.
Now Maggie, Diego, and Felicia have to figure out what they broke, whether they can fix it, and how to tell Mrs. Wise the truth before the crack gets any wider. The answer is waiting in the Cave of Echoes — in a voice that has been looping there for nearly two hundred years, left by the very first Shadow Keeper for someone who hadn’t been told yet that she was needed.
(I would have found the Cave of Echoes immediately. Cats are excellent at this. No one asked me.)

How We Got Here (And Why There’s More Coming So Soon)
You might be wondering: three books released how fast?!
My human has been working on these stories since spring 2025. The characters, the world of Bayfield, the mysteries. All of it developed across drafts and edits for well over a year, while I provided emotional support in the form of sitting directly on her notes. That groundwork is what’s made this rapid release possible. It’s not that the books came together quickly. It’s that the work was already done.
Which brings me to the very exciting news: Book 4 — the final book in the series — will release in September 2026.
Yes. Next month.
I am choosing to celebrate this by taking a nap. You should celebrate by reading.
Is This the Right Book for Your Reader?
The Bayfield Echo is perfect for readers ages 8–12 who love mysteries with a magical twist, small-town adventures with big stakes, strong friendships, and stories where the hero’s real-life talents actually matter.
The book can be read as a standalone, but it rewards readers who’ve followed Maggie from the beginning. If you’re just joining us, books one and two are a great place to start — and with Book 4 coming next month, there’s never been a better time to dive in.
(My human wanted me to add that Bayfield wouldn’t be what it is without you. I wanted to add that neither would she. Both things are true.)
Happy reading! 🔮🐱

P.S. Have you read Books 1 and 2? Leaving a review on Amazon makes a huge difference for indie authors and helps other readers find Maggie’s world. My human will not say this herself because she is too humble. I have no such problem.
