Still working...

Hello again, servants, err. I mean delightful humans of the glowing rectangle!

It is me again. Zen. You may remember me from … never mind. We all know you could never forget me.

I am back with my official post-launch report.

First of all, Arden said to tell you thank you. She actually got a little teary about it, which I handled by sitting on her lap until she pulled herself together. You’re welcome, Arden.

Sometimes she’s just so needy!

I have been monitoring the situation closely from my spot on the back of the couch, which has an excellent view out the front windows and Arden’s laptop screen. My findings are as follows:

Arden has been smiling at her phone a lot. This is new behavior. Usually, she just squints at it and sighs. The smiling is much better. I approve.

She has also been saying things like “oh that’s so sweet” to nobody in particular, which means people have been sending her kind words. I do not fully understand the internet and messaging, but I understand kind words. They make Arden less twitchy, which makes my life considerably more peaceful.

There’s been extra kibble nibbles in my bowl, and I’ve had so many belly rubs I was beginning to feel a little suspicious. But then I thought about it. It’s not my birthday, but maybe we’re celebrating something else.

If you have already grabbed a copy of The Singing Lighthouse — thank you. Truly. From both of us. Arden worked on this story for a long time. She started drafting the series in May of 2025, and let me tell you, I supervised every single page of it. We all know a human year is a long time in cat years and let me tell you something! We’re both glad it’s finally out in the world.

If you haven’t picked it up yet, it is still there waiting for you. No rush. Books are patient. I, however, am not, so perhaps consider it soon.

And if you have read it and want to tell Arden what you thought, she would absolutely love that. Reviews (and even stars) make authors very happy. Happy authors fill treat bowls on time. I have done the math. This equation is proven and triple checked.

That is my full report.

P.S. I found one of Tigger’s old catnip mice behind the bookshelf yesterday. I left it there. Some things should stay exactly where they are.
